The rules that decide whether a purchase pays

Vouchers, returns, gift cards, marketplaces and adblockers. Six habits that decide whether cashback arrives, ordered by how often they go wrong.

Cashback either works completely or not at all. There is rarely a middle. These are the six things that decide which, ordered by how often we see them cause a problem.

1. Start in the app, every time

The click is what creates the identifier the shop reports back. No click, no cashback, regardless of how much you spent. This is the rule that breaks most often, usually because someone already had the shop open in another tab.

2. Finish in one session

Basket today, checkout on Thursday tends not to survive. If you need time to think, come back through the app when you are ready to buy.

3. Only use codes from inside Hustly

An external voucher code usually reassigns the sale to whoever published it. If a code saves more than the cashback would, use the code, just know that you are choosing.

4. Check what is excluded

Gift cards, third-party sellers on marketplaces, and sometimes whole categories are excluded almost everywhere. The shop's page lists them.

5. Returns take the cashback with them

If you send the order back, the shop reverses its commission and the cashback lapses. Partial returns reduce it proportionally. Nothing unfair is happening. The sale that paid for it did not happen.

6. Watch the blockers

Adblockers, strict privacy modes and cookie banners set to reject everything can prevent the shop from seeing the click identifier at all. Buying in the app avoids most of this.
